sorry, i first replied at cedrics private mail adress instead of
sending it to the list on friday. I post my answer now here again:

Hi Cedric,

>1/ Will it also display Vector files stored in the folder ?

About what file formats are we talking?
I checked that Scribus already supports .svg, and Herm told me he will maybe
modify the image loading function so it will support other vector formats as
well so the picturebrowser should support it. I think i have to wait for Herm
to return until i can give you a detailed answer on this

>2/ do you provide a "search" tool

a search tool will be included, its the second tab at the bottom of the expanded
Picturebrowser. It will allow searching for files on your drives as well
as in the results you already got. This will replace the "search images" dialog
in Scribus (at least that was my plan)

i dont completely get your point. If i want to make a collection for a special
document, i select this collection and then i only see the pictures i added to it?
I didnt know about Fontmatrix before, just dl and compiled it. Its tags approach
looks interesting, maybe this is something i could adapt, my idea of collections
was simpler (basically just giving a name to identify a group of images)

>4/ I guess, the directory browser should be replaced by collection browser when
>needed, or will you launch a new window ?

when you select the tab it will be replaced by a Listview displaying all your collections,
same for document browser which will show the pages then. You can already try that out.
The layout will always stay the same, similar elements at the same place no matter which
type of browser you select.

>5/ Do you allow multi selection ? i.e. i can take several file and then just
>click in several frame to insert. Very usefull for brochures or catalogues until
>we have automatic insertion from Database ?

hm that didnt come to my mind before, but i think i could implement that,
although you could just drag and drop your images into the frames you want,
which i would consider a more intuitive approach (unless you want to insert
the same picture into several frames, the clicks are the same)

>6/ Will you allow distant browsing and in this case what kind of protocol : i'm
>just thinking of 2 things :
>a. OpenCLipart
>b. shared directory on some file server

I talked to Christoph about that and we agreed that i will work on this if there is
enough time left, but the basic functions have a much higher priority
Does OpenClipart have any interface i can use for access except http, i didnt see any

Best regards,

Markus
