It appears that only Mandrake and Slackware put out their system with 
the defective Qt libraries. 

My slolution is to put up a Gentoo partition and run Scribus over 
there. It compiles OK on that platform. that way I don't have to fool 
with variations in Qt libraries.

When I get printing to work Gentoo will become my main platform.
