Edit > Select all will be blank if you are not in Edit mode for text. It
is for selecting text in a text frame, not for selecting all objects for
a page. 

For selecting everything on a page, if for example you want to copy and
paste it to another page:

1. Click the select tool ( the cross icon on the tool bar.)

2. Start from the top left of the page and left click drag over the
objects on the page. 

3. Now you can:
a. drag these to the scrapbook 
b. copy or cut and paste to another page 
c. delete 
d. move the objects as a group. 
e. scale them
f. move them to another layer on the page
