[Scribus] Can run debian package, but not compile CVS

Hi,

I attempted to do the CVS compile, and followed all the suggestions I
saw on the  list, and still hit snags.  Would you please suggest
experiments to find what is wrong?

I ran cvs  to update existing Scribus directory...  Is it necessary to
run from scratch and not reuse any of the old?  I reused the old and
deleted files with a ? in front until 
cvs -z3 co Scribus ran quickly and updated nothing.
