[Scribus] scribus crashes when using scribus-script

hi list!
I downloaded, configured and installed scribus 1.0.1 and
scribus-scripting; after minor problems with QT (on Debian 3.0 I had to
link libqt-mt.3.so to libqt-mt.so ...) everything compiled&installed fine.
However, after downloading, configuring and installing scribusscript 0.5
scribus suddenly crashed; so I ran scribus via gdb (a debugger), which
slowed the startup down, so I saw it crashed when loading the
scripting-stuff.
Uninstalling scribus-script solved this, just wonder what the problem
could be, since python v. 2.1 seems to run just fine.
Also, Scribus is almost unuseable when I use it with my desktop,
containing a ATI radeon 9000. After startup, all backgrounds are black,
and also I can't see a white font in a black box (I only see a black box).
But maybe this a problem with the GATOS-X-driver (for ati-cards).
And BTW the refresh of the whole scribus-window when entering one char
into a textfield is really very annoying; I wanted to write down a small
interview, but I had to switch to 'vim'.
Nevertheless I sucessfully managed to lay out a small newspaper, it
almost looks like the xpress-version. Now if just the scripting would work
...
And I really would like to see horizontally and verticaly scalable fonts
:)
cheers
