[Scribus] Scribus 1.1.0 and fink

I am new to Scribus and to desktop publishing in general, with a DTP project
(program (not the software kind) for my barbershop chorus' annual 
show) due in 2 1/2 weeks.
I have been lurking on this list for a couple of weeks now and am 
finding it useful.

I currently have Scribus 1.0.1-3, downloaded via fink.  (I used a 
work-around to get
the "unstable" scribus installed.)  Fink does not yet have the 
lastest scribus.  Will I
mess up my fink installations by downloading and installing scribus 
1.1.0 on my own?
Or, can anyone tell me how long it generally takes for fink to pick 
up the latest-greatest?

The reports on the new version are glowing and when I tried Franz 
Schmid's tutorial I ran into
numerous frustrations culminating in a crash.  And that was just 
making the heading on the first
page :~(  I think I hit the "draw a line between two text frames" 
crash.  I don't want to go
chasing bugs on an old version.  After my project is done, I'll have 
more time to analyze
what is going wrong and give some helpful feedback.

  I am running scribus with Apple's X11 under Mac OS X.
