Bad idea IMO:

1. Not all platforms which Scribus will have fam (Win32 ? Mac - natively
eventually..)

2. Another dependency.

3. Its buggy.

4. Uneeded complexity.

5. A lot of coding time for a marginally convenient feature.

I might add I agree with Jean-Jacques 100%.

The behavior of Scribus mimics ( correctly IMO) those in other DTP apps with
Image Editing apps. See PitStop Pro and Photoshop or Illy 10 for an example.

That Scribus is "blocked" until image editing is complete is a good thing. Any
kind of autosaving behind my back is not a good behavior esp wrt to complex
files, where I might want to backout changes.

My $.02,
Peter
