Sometimes ago that I tried Scribus from CVS ... but was never able to install it from CVS. 
So, I gave it another try ... with this error:

tom:/home/tom/scribus_cvs/Scribus # make -f Makefile.dist
This Makefile is only for the CVS repository
This will be deleted before making the distribution
