[Scribus] Does anybody have Scribus working with Solaris OpenWindows fonts?

Scribus is crashing when trying to load the PostScript fonts from the normal 
Open Windows distribution (/usr/openwin/lib/X11/fonts/Type1/).  If I don't 
include this directory in the font path, Scribus complains there are no 
PostScript fonts.

I even recompiled freetype2 to turn off the bytecode interpreter (saw a message 
relating to this).  Has anyone successfully managed to get Scribus running on a 
Solaris 8 system?  I'm trying v1.1.7.  I would appreciate any help to get past 
this.
