[Scribus] Unselecting objects

Here's something I encountered today:

If every object in the document is selected, and the document is the exact 
same size as the page with no margins, how does one unselect objects? I 
usually unselect objects by clicking outside of the document. But if the 
document does not have an outside, and every object is already selected, how 
does one unselect objects?

I know I can do this by changing layers but is that the only way?
