[Scribus] how do you choose the font to use?

Hello,

how do you choose the font you use for your documents. I have a few
thousand fonts sitting on CD-ROMs, but each time I am starting a new
document I wonder what is the best way of organizing the fonts, and how
you can try out the relevant fonts on the document without
installing/uninstalling every font.

Could you please share your tips here? Are there any tools (besides
Scribus) that help in the process of choosing the right font? The only
tool that helps a little bit is the font preview in konqueror, but that is
only usable to sort out fonts one is definitely not using.
