you will find a small a5-booklet I've created using Scribus 1.1.5 and  
1.1.6 on OSX 10.3 (fink install). As I'm not a professional layouter,  
there are quite some flaws.

However, working with scribus was quite a pleasure, and the resultat is  
very satisfying and the  extra effort put in to compile and learn  
scribus was surely worth it!
(InDesign had been crashing on me constantly doing the same thing one  
year ago.)
