[Scribus] Auto page-numbering: a reminder

Dear all,

An issue is often raised on this list about auto page-numbering,
especially for 10+ pagers. I thought there was a need for a reminder
because Scribus evolves so rapidly and the users become numerous!
Great!

For the basics, you will want to refer to the Tutorial, [Page number] section.

So what about page 10+ ?
The quick answer is: "enter the number key twice".

One might then think there is a need to make separate templates for
1-9, 10-99, 100-999 and so on. But no. :-)

Enter the number key twice (or thrice) in only *one* template (two if
you want a different layout to distinguish between left and right
pages). Page 1 will be 1, page 10 will be 10 and page 100 will be
100. All you need to figure out is how many pages your document will
be: under 10, under 100 or under 1000. This will tell wether you need
#, ## or ### in the template (actually CTRL-# or ALT-# or any key
combination you define for Settings>Keyboard Shortcuts>Insert Page
Number). And don't forget things are always editable, so this is not
a one-time only decision.

HTH

;-)

Louis
