[Scribus] Make'ing 1.2.2.1

I've installed Qt 3.3.4 (with threads) and configure for Scribus 1.2.2.1 
ran to completion.  But when I try to make scribus it fails with the 
error:

scribusview.cpp: In member function `QString ScribusView::generateUniqueCopyName(QString)':
scribusview.cpp:2698: error: `assert' undeclared (first use this function)

Can someone tell me what I need to do to correct this situation?
