[Scribus] Inkscape 0.42 and *.wmf

I have 1000's of *.wmf files from my Windoze days. More in hope than 
expectation I ran the latest Inkscape (it is on the repositories of 
PCLInuxOS already) and opened the "Open" dialogue. I clicked on a *.wmf 
file, and the preview was PERFECT!!!

However, when I actually opened it, it was silhouetted and distorted 
just as before. How come it can preview the files correctly but not open 
them? I got the same thing happening on a large number of these files.
