Hi,

With Linux certainly, when cups is installed and correctly configured. 
It also helps to have the latest Ghostcript for your distro. 

My two simple inkjets here rarely have issues printing directly from 
Scribus with CUPS - both are certainly not real PS printers. 

If this fails, you can try downgrading the postscript level in 
"Advanced" the printing dialog to print PS Level 2.
