Have you tried installing the testing binary packages? Since you have not
transitioned libqt3 you "should" be able to use those. I've just run this
scenario in my unstable chroot and it went fine.

You don't have to move to scribus-cvs altogether, of course. Install it to
check for the features and also update the "scribus" package from the upstream
repositories to get the bug fixes that you are missing since I haven't been
able to update that package in Debian proper for quite a while due to the C++
transition.
