[Scribus] Graphics turn into black boxes

It can indeed be fixed that way, but the question is why it doesn't work the
way that I presented it in the archive.  It's a perfectly valid graphic file
(apparently) and it looks fine as a  PDF directly exported from Scrubus.  But
it turns into a black box when it's printed-to-file.

Why?
