It would be interesting to hear more about your issues, since it might help 
improving existing and forthcoming documentation. Have you read the 
wiki-articles?

That's a bit strange to me, because my experience was exactly the inverse, but 
this may be due to different backgrounds. I also discovered that, once the 
handful of principles of use has been understood, newbies can work 
productively very soon, just by applying logic.
