[Scribus] default text font

Thanks Dean and Greg for the help.
I'm using Scribus 1.3.3.

When I go to File > Preferences > Tools
my default shows Bitstream Charter.

But when I open a text frame, and then click Edit Contents I still get
the odd y2kbug font.

I can change it to Bitstream in the frame, but I have to change
it for each frame.

I set it again in the preferences without a document open, but 
it still reverts.

I'm new at this and am probably missing something obvious.
