Most Germans would write it like that since it's far too difficult to
remember
if you need "?" or "`" on your French words :-) 

But you're right, I have the French accents on my keyboard, except for the 
silly-C, so I can write words like "Caf?" or "r?le" -- oops, that's an
English word. :-)
