[Scribus] type one fonts in 1.3.3.5 win not displaying (2)

i don't know if this made it through the first time, but here goes again.

this version of scribus is finding all of the open type and true type fonts
and not registering the type 1's.  i deleted the checkfonts file and when
the program created the fonts cache it disregarded the installed type one
fonts.

i started the program from the console and it ran with no problems.  i don't
get it.  what do i need to do to see and use these fonts, considering they
are in sla files?
