[Scribus] pdf form not read correctly by acrobat 5

i have created a form, with the greatest of ease, and saved it to pdf 
1.4.  i have no javascript, because this is a local copy to be filled 
out, printed and saved to the hdd.

do i still need javascript?

if i do, i'm dead.  to paraphrase the maid in "gone with the wind" -- i 
don't know nuthin' bout javascript.

p.s. any references that anyone could afford to make this form work 
would be much appreciated.
