Perhaps you should take a look at:
http://wiki.scribus.net/index.php/How_to_make_a_booklet
which talks about using psutils to accomplish this. You would have to
modify the commands a bit for your purpose. What you're doing is
converting the pdfs to ps, manipulating them, then back to pdf.
BTW, Anschnitt = Bleed, according to the Glossary on the Wiki.
