The main problem is to learn the difference between word processing and page
layout,
that's independent of application (see

That's a very simple task for a DTP program. With DTP programs you can
achieve a much more complex layout, with text flowing around images, layers,
drop shadows, etc.
Doing page layout with a word processor will drive you nuts.

Well, it *is* if you are also targeting a desktop printer :-)
If you take Publisher-PDFs to a print shop, you are likely to run into
problems.
Scribus PDF output is at least as good as that of Indesign or Quark (for
printing purposes).

Nor do I, but users report that they dont regret switching from Publisher to
Scribus.
