They'll be, but not in 1.3.3.x branch ;)

1.3.4+ versions will read 1.3.4 files, but there's almost no chance that a
future 1.3.3.x version will ever be able to read 1.3.4 files : problems
related to missing feature, such as character styles, patterns, or different
layout engine... So nobody inside the team will lose any time on this. The
only chance is that someone outside the team writes an importer...
