[Scribus] Importing Spreadsheets - the future?

Are there any plans to facilitate thendirect importing of spreadsheets
into Scribus? I find the export (from OOo Calc) as svg into
inkscape/draw (whatever) somewhat cumbersome, unreliable and an
impediment to using Scribus in any technical documents. It would be
good to know what the future holds that will allow the seamless
importation, even if not as embedded objects.
