Yes, there are two clipboards, one in the app and one in Linux.

For me all I do is highlight the text, enter <ctrl-c>, go to the other 
app, enter <ctrl-v> and the text is placed at the cursor position. 
Normally in Linux all you do is highlight the text and it is 
automatically placed on the clipboard. That's the way the command-line, 
character-based terminal works, etc.

I'm using Scribus 1.3.4 and Ubuntu Linux. Now if you are on Windows or 
Mac, I can't offer suggestions.
