Murray,

http://www.scribus.net/?q=debian is the authoritative document on
Debian/Ubuntu Scribus packages. If you take a quick look at it you'll see
that
the only thing you really need to do is to add our repositories to your
package manager. Then, it's just like using the main Debian or Ubuntu
archive
i.e. business as usual, which means that all dependencies are taken care of
automagically and you have nothing to worry about in that regard.

Cheers,

Alex.

Thanks. I had added the Scribus repositories and it did not seem to
have the gs-afpl that was specified in the tutorial "Getting Started
with Scribus". However, someone later pointed that if I have
GhostScript (gs) version 8.60 or later, I would be OK. In fact, I do
have 8.61 and so far, things seem to be working. I am COMPLETELY new
to Scribus (or any similar software for that matter), so it a bit of
a steep learning curve for me.

Cheers,

Murray
