here i must agree with you: it would be nice to have a standalone editor,
which could be used as a standalone application and which could read/edit
.sla files directly!

btw, a oo.org plugin for doing this could also be an option!

i'm wait for 1.3.5 coming out, then i'd like to start a discussion on how
the new file format could support such an option.

i would actively participate in both the definition of that part of the file
format and the development of such an application!

that's why, imho, it's much more important to have a spellchecker, which
just shows the errors in the text frame, than one which lets you proofread
the text in a separated box!

i've read the superb posts by louis and i must agree to all of his points...
up to this one: i'd really like a way to see the typos inserted at the
layout stage! it has to be non intrusive and fast!
(and seeing all that errors in the newspapers, i have to think that there
are many people who miss this feature!)
