I don't think so.  In the old days we used to run ME in a VM under linux 
to do distributed computing jobs.  It worked fine on a singe AMD 1800+ CPU.

No doubt multi core CPUs might simplify virtualisation though, 
especially if the VM only sees a single core CPU.
