[scribus] big problems with text editing

Hi all,

something strange is going on.
I can edit normally text by the story editor, though special  
characters like @ or {} (note that special characters using the  
combination with the shift key work fine) will not be displayed on the  
working.

Also I have difficulty to directly edit text in the text box, which I  
do by selecting the text area and then editing content of the frame.
  I have to type exactly one character where the cursor per default is  
located. After that I can edit the text as I want including the  
special characters I mentioned above. But if I am not doing so the  
text box remaines mute to editing, except that I can place the cursor  
by clicking at some location in the text.

here are my configurations:

Scribus 1.3.3.10 (Mac)
Mac OS X 10.5.5
Parallels 3.0 5608
Windows XP Pro SP3

BTW; my scribus version for the mac sometimes reacts extremely slow.
I think that it is a great open source tool, I hope that there will be  
soon some new version to download.
