Actually it was ready at 20080127-2136 ;>

Try adding:
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/scribus/ubuntu gutsy main

to your sources.list (or via your package manager of choice)

It works for me on hardy, but if it breaks you get to keep all the pieces. So please backup your data first!
