[scribus] PDF slow when viewing

I'm using
 Scribus 1.3.3.9
 on Win XP

and generating PDFs that result in documents anywhere between 300k - 800kB.
The docs has images and text, around 3-4 pages.

The PDF viewing/rendering, especially scrolling, is very slow and jerky on
Acrobat within a browser plugin and as a standalone app.  I've tried all
sorts of PDF export options.  It's really bad with the mouse-wheel or
scrollbar.

Is this typical of a PDF from Scribus?
