[scribus] Using the #scribus chat room

I have installed the ChatZilla plug-in into Firefox 3.  On the "Scribus 
IRC" page <http://docs.scribus.net/index.php?lang=en&page=irc> page,  I 
double-clicked on the <irc://irc.freenode.net/#scribus>, causing 
ChatZilla to launch and attempt to connect.

All I am getting is

Is there any special configuration that needs to be done, e.g. port 
numbers, or contacting someone to be invited?  Or is the server down?

I have not used chat before so am finding it a bit bewildering.
