The issue might well be related to Qt3 which is used in 1.3.3.x
Dead keys don't work in certain circumstances and this cannot be fixed, as I
understand it, in the 1.3.3.x series. In the development series 1.3.5svn,
Qt4 has been implemented and afaik the problem is not present.
