Are you using windows? If yes:

Start ->  All Programs ->  Scribus 1.3.3.12 ->  Scribus 1.3.3.12 (Console)

This open Scribus and a small DOS console.
On dos console there are varius debug messages...
You have to try to gererate a PDF document and look into the consolle if
there are more dettailed errors.

Try also to upgrate scribus from 1.3.3.12 to 1.3.3.13
