[scribus] Problem with valueDialog()

1.3.5 latest svn installed 0930 2nd Jan09

Have a problem where:
valueDialog(caption, message [,defaultvalue]) -> string

Caption and message display the same string.
pyscript:

choice = scribus.valueDialog('a','b','0')
selectedtext = colortext[int(choice)]
result = scribus.messageBox('Here it is!',selectedtext)

Displays b in both the title bar and the window

I sent a bug to mantis and the reply was, in short,:
---- Works as expected. The first argument of valueDialog is the windows title,
the second the message.

It does not work on my installation
I have qt4.4.3 installed as recommended.

What could be the reasons for this please and how to fix.
