[scribus] Line spacing increases when point size reduced

Scribis version 1.3.3.13 on Windows.

Using all default settings I put text in a text frame (Times New Roman
Regular, 12pt). I then selected the text and reduced point size to 8 but the
line spacing increased. The smaller the point size the greater the line
spacing. How do I stop the spacing from increasing?
