as far i can tell, it's not a good idea to import a pdf without putting 
it in an image frame.

it may work in some specific situations, but it's not yet really as 
solid as the ghostscript rasterization of PDFs.

you're free to use it, but i would really refrain from suggesting other 
people to do the same (expect in some specific cases...).

it's even safer to activate the experimental embedding of PDFs...
