Yes, but I was answering to a general statement about building programs, 
not specifically Scribus. Annd of course one should read  and follow 
specific instructions. I just wanted to say that in a lot of cases it's 
not nearly as difficult as it may seem, and doesn't take a hacker. If 
you pull all required -devel packeges from repos, in a good majority of 
cases you're a few commands away from a working program.
