[scribus] transparent image darkens the color of polygon in background

Hi   :)

In my Scribus document, using 1.3.3.13 on Ubuntu 9.04, I have a logo
image set on top of a colored poloygon (it's background for some text
and the logo.)  The problem I have is that even though the image's
background is transparent it still darkens the area of the polygon that
it covers.  I have no idea what to do.  Please help me.
