If you think about it, not only in your local printer, but also in
commercial printers, printing to the absolute edge is messy and a waste
of ink.
Bleed has to do with creating a margin around your document, printing
beyond the final document's edge by not the edge of the stock, then
trimming the paper to your desired size.
