To answer more directly I am suggesting using the LaTeX 
exit just to format individual blocks of text. All you have to 
do is key in the text. Font choice would be a problem 
however. Scribus has just a limited selection for the LaTeX 
exit. 

 If I were designing the TeX exit for Scribus I wouldn't have 
chosen LaTeX. That's doing it the hard way. Plain pdftex or 
tex have less baggage.
