The instructions in the Scribus manual are just for installing fonts.
Unfortunately I know that very well. Too well, as evidently I have
installed some fonts more than once. :)
I have long had Fontmatrix installed, but it is not very stable for me.
Just now I tried it, but it does not have the ability to delete a font
file. It does display duplicates, although you have to scroll through
manually. Once you find a duplicate you can deactivate one of them, but
the duplicate file remains in whatever folder it was in. Once I find a
duplicate with Fontmatrix I can delete the duplicate font file with
Nautilus or the command line, but then Fontmatrix crashes.
I was hoping to get just a list of duplicates so I could quickly go
into the folder and delete them. Most of the duplicates are font files
that are in /usr/share/fonts and duplicated in ~/.fonts. I am the only
user of this computer, so I would just delete the duplicate files in
~/.fonts.
It's not a critical thing. The duplicate font files don't seem to cause
any problems (except maybe for Fontmatrix). I just like to keep things
tidy.
