Do you mean that one can add an sla file to a ready open one?

It would be good work practice to be able to make up small peaces of
scribus own format (sla) to be able to import them in their appropriate
places. Like a book, for example, to the complex parts, save them and
import them into an on going work.
A little like the ?scrap book? but specific for the ongoing work.
Doing so in a PDF file has not worked well for me.

you can import pages from one .sla file to another .sla file.
if you want to just share some elements -- as you noted -- you can use
share the scrapbook (admittedly, there is room for improvements, there).
we certainly need to further work on those mechanisms, but i'm not sure
that we need new ways of doing...
any thoughts?

Hi,
Just started using Scribus in the last few months to produce my small
press magazine, it's a really great program, so thanks to all the devs
for their continued hard work.
That said I have an issue I'd appreciate some help with. And it is 'me'
(not Scribus) who has the issue - I use InDesign and work and would
have
the same problem there! The font I'm using (supplied with my Kyocera
printer) seems to have some glyphs in unusual locations. I'm wondering
if anyone has done, or it's possible to use the scripting feature to
batch search and replace? At the moment I'm having to do a search and
replace for every (unlinked)frame and every glyph. It's a little
tedious!
Anyway, before I try to delve into learning Python I thought I'd check
I'm not reinventing the wheel.

don't print your file to ps, but export it to pdf from scribus (file >
export > pdf)

I have held back from responding to this for some time to "cool off"!!
I responded to Ivan's post with a COMMENT of my own just to complete
the
picture as I saw it from my side. To this I got a VERY rude comment
back
from a.l.e. which I felt was totally out of character and very
offensive. (most unlike him I must say as he is always VERY helpful to
us all!!)
I was merely pointing out that not only was I also not getting any
postings but could also not SEND in a posting!! I assumed that it was a
Server problem and just thought it a good idea to put this out to the
Group for whoever's "job" it was to watch such things. I had NO idea
who
this would be or that there was going to be a move to a new Server as
this had NOT been mentioned in the forum!! I feel my comment was taken
completely out of context - I was NOT complaining I was commenting!!!
Anyway - that's enough - let it rest!!
The question I had been trying to post was....
I've just noticed a funny problem in my monthly publication!
My Master Pages have a "Header" and "Footer" containing Publication ID,
Date and Page Numbers. I created these "Headers" and "Footers" by
positioning Text Boxes at the top and bottom of each Master Page.
The font I selected for the text in these locations is Bitstream and
indeed when I'm working with the .sla file the text _IS_ in the
Bitstream font. BUT after exporting to PDF all the text in the
"Headers"
and "Footers" shows up as Verdana, (my default font). Any Bitstream
font
in the body of the publication comes out right in the conversion to
PDF,
it's just the "Headers" and "Footers" that don't show up correctly!!
Anyone got any ideas about this??
My set-up is Linux Mint 10 KDE and Scribus 1.4.0 RC5.

Hi folks,
When I use Scribus to "GetText", for a text frame from a text file, I
have the
option to apply paragraph text filters to the content.
How does one use the same mechanism, (or is there a similar mechanism
available), for applying CHARACTER styles to the imported text?
I feel certain this must be possible, otherwise I might have to learn
how to
program in Python to create a script to do it.

i'm sorry if the answer has been felt as very rude.
i guess that i've been out there for too long and simply had not much
lust on a long thread about how badly the people were missing the
scribus servers.
the thought was something like: we had a way too long service break,
let's get back to the normal without spending too much time in
discussing how we felt while the server was down.
i didn't mean to be offensive.
and one last thing: the service isn't yet in its normal state...
can anybody from the team check why the forum is not sending
confirmations mails for new registrations?
hopefully, you can recover soon :-)
