Yup!  In fact, I'm on both a forum and a mailing list for my Linux 
distro, Fedora.  Sometimes one will get me an answer the other can't and 
a few times, I've posted pointers to solutions from the forum on the 
mailing list.  For me, it's the best of both worlds.
