[scribus] Whole window disappears

Hello,
I'm running the most recent stable version using Windows 7. When I open the
program and I either create a new document or open an existing one, I
click, and then nothing happens. The weird thing is that it looks like some
kind of icon runs across the bottom of my display, behind that bar along
the bottom of the window, all the way to the right and then disappears.
What I'm left with is the Scribus Icon on that bottom bar as if the program
is running, but no document, no toolbars, no anything. It worked great for
a while. I thought maybe it was my display settings because I'm running
dual monitors, but I've changed the settings every way possible to try to
solve the problem. I've changed the display to a one monitor setup. I've
cursed and shaken my fist. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the software.
Nothing works. Still does the same thing.
Is it a hex or something? Is my computer cursed? The same program works
great on my laptop.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
