i think that the program is accepting the profiles and is using it.
if you see that color it is because scribus thinks that your images
have areas that are out of gamut.
are you using the printer profiles you got from your printshop?
are you using monitor profiles that were produced through a calibration
process for *your* monitor?
i'm not color management specialist, and -- the last time i've
turned no some of the "standard" profiles -- i also wondered why so
many areas are marked as out of gamut.
color management is not just a switch you enable... it's something you
have to learn about (or need somebody to set up *your specific*
workflow for you) and it has to be tailored to your working conditions
and the target for your output (paper, printer , inks)
