I think it's worth seeing what happens using okular to convert the 
Scribus-generated PS files -- there is no indication that Scribus can 
generate color-separated PDFs.

One of the things it seems needs verification is whether the problem 
you've had is with these fonts or something else. The okular option is 
totally separate from Scribus.
